Hey, Health Stoppers! |
Magnesium has numerous benefits, acting as a support to nearly every system in the body. And it makes sense - it is naturally found in untouched drinking water, our primary source of magnesium for the entirety of human history. Magnesium, quite literally, is as important as drinking water itself.
Too bad many purified waters remove magnesium all together.
Magnesium deficiency impacts millions of people each day who go un-diagnosed, as magnesium levels cannot be determined by blood tests. There are other ways to determine them, of course, but most doctors do not immediately test for magnesium levels.
Consider Dr. Norman Shealy's statements, "Every known illness is associated with a magnesium deficiency" and that, "magnesium is the most critical mineral required for electrical stability of every cell in the body. A magnesium deficiency may be responsible for more diseases than any other nutrient."
Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include muscle twitches, cramps, soreness, and fatigue. A tightness in the chest coupled with difficulty breathing is another symptom, and the occasional sensation of a lump in the throat. Back aches, neck pain, tension headaches and TMJ are more symptoms.
But there is more. Anxiety, hyperactivity, insomnia, restlessness. Panic attacks, agoraphobia, PMS, irritability. Numbness, tingling, vibratory sensations. High blood pressure, palpitations, heart arrhythmia, and angina. All of these are associated with magnesium deficiency. One might say a person with magnesium deficiency may come across as "uptight".
Other symptoms/manfiestations of magnesium deficiency include:
Physical and mental fatigue Persistent under-eye twitch Tension in the upper back, shoulders and neck Headaches Pre-menstrual fluid retention and/or breast tenderness Low energy Fatigue Weakness Confusion Nervousness Anxiousness Irritability Seizures (and tantrums) Poor digestion PMS and hormonal imbalances Inability to sleep Muscle tension, spasm and cramps Calcification of organs Weakening of the bones Abnormal heart rhythm Extreme thirst Extreme hunger Frequent urination Sores or bruises that heal slowly Dry, itchy skin Unexplained weight loss Blurry vision that changes from day to day Unusual tiredness or drowsiness Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet Frequent or recurring skin, gum, bladder or vaginal yeast infections
If you notice, some of the symptoms for magnesium deficiency are also the symptoms for diabetes. It seems that there may be a linkage between magnesium and insulin resistance.

What is the best way to prevent magnesium deficiency? By supplementing it of course!

Magnesium may no longer be available in (most) waters, but you CAN add it to your water. CALM can be taken throughout the day, but we find it best taken before bed, as it is relaxing, and helps you get to sleep! But if you want to take it throughout the day, it will provide a sense of tranquility.
Additional methods of supplementing magnesium also exist. Capsules, tablets and trace mineral blends contain magnesium. But whatever your delivery system, make sure you get some magensium everyday! Consider it as important to your well-being as H20!
